My 2 year old!

This week Charlotte turns two!
I cannot believe that she is turning 2 years old already,
where has the time gone?

She has gone from a tiny 6lb 15oz baby who was too little for newborn clothes and my parents had to rush out and buy tiny baby clothes for her to wear, into a lively, bouncy girly girl who opens her wardrobe and demands “dresses” and to have her “shhoooes” on to go out.

From this tiny baby....

From this tiny baby…. this beautiful and barely still toddler.

…to this beautiful and barely still toddler.

She really has her own big personality and lets you know if she isn’t happy about something, usually with the words “no, no, no, no, no” or a hand and look that tell you that isn’t how it should be.

She has gone from Crib, to cot to Big girl bed and from not sleeping much to nearly sleeping through the night.

Children grown and change so quickly, day by day, week by week they are growing and changing and although we as parents don’t see it as much as others it is astounding when you wake up one day and find that you have a toddler instead of the baby you put down to sleep the night before.

I can’t wait to see how she will grow and change in the next year, what she will learn and be able to do by the time she turns 3 years old.
I look forward to continuing to write about her, tell you how she is growing and changing, and documenting all the fun, amazing or even mundane things that she does, because I want to remember everything!

Maybe one day when she is older she will read these posts and see these pictures.
I didn’t have a baby book to fill in, but I do have this blog it has a duel purpose of documenting our lives as we all grow together.

Planning a 1st birthday party….HELP!

Baby C turns 1 next week so we are having a family party on Saturday.

As Baby C is the 1st baby in our family for quite a few years she doesnt have any little cousins to invite and as I never really went to any groups I dont have many real life frinds with babies. I have a lovely group of internet mummy friends but they are all over the country (and even as far away as turkey!) so although I would love to invite all of them and their gorgeous children I think it would be a little far to travel for a couple of hours on a Saturday!

So we have invited our families and friends to celebrate Baby C’s 1st birthday with us. There will be about 6 children ranging in age from 1-9 there. I want to do little party bags but i’m not sure what to put in them. I also have to plan and get the food, drink and decorations.

I wanted to go for an Owl theme but havnt been able to get anything, so I have now for a spots/ bright colours theme. Well I can always save the owl theme for next year and collect things through the year. So we have cups, plates, knives and forks, banners and table cloths.

I am also sat making lists, of food and drink that we will need. I want to do traditional kids party food, jelly, cakes, crisps, butties, but also do some foods that the adults might like pizza and chicken. What would you suggest? What would you want to eat?

This unsurprisingly is the 1st childrens party I have ever hosted. Baby C is the 1st child, the 1st granchild, the 1st great grandchild. So this will not be a typical kids party as the adults outnumber the children by a good ratio.

What else do we need, Oh a cake! I am thinking of going to Costo tonight and ordering a cake as we will need enough cake for about 25 people. I would usually make it, and will be making C’s cake smash cake, but I don’t have time to do extra baking with my very long list of jobs to do over the next 4 days.

So any advise over food, party bags or anything party related that you want to give to a novice party planner, please comment and give me advise!
