canvas design review and competition*

I have been given the opportunity to review a photo canvas of my choice by a lovely company called Canvas Design

Canvas Design ( is a UK based company that print your photographs on the canvas for you to hang on your walls. It gives you the freedom to choose your high quality pictures, and get them in the sizes you want without the huge price tag of some of the photography studios.

Their webpage is very user friendly and their communication in brilliant, very quick to reply to any email queries and dispatch times are very quick, usually within 48 hours of ordering. I placed my order on Thursday afternoon and got a text on Friday afternoon telling me my delivery was due on Monday, also giving me the option to change delivery date or have it delivered to a neighbour.  Monday morning came and along came another text giving me an hour delivery slot. It was delivered on time and packaged brilliantly, protecting it from any damage.

You need to choose a high quality photograph because you don’t want it to become distorted when it is enlarged.

I know from experience that when you get professional photographs taken it can cost an arm and a leg for you to actually get the pictures they take. The photos are usually amazing and you want them all, but to be able to put them on your wall could cost thousands. In my opinion Canvas Design could print them for you for a fraction of the price, and you would get the amazing wall art that will help to finish off any room.

Here is a price list of all the sizes that they have available.

I chose to get one of the professional high quality pictures that were taken by Venture photography printed onto canvas, It is my favourite picture at the moment. My boyfriend has claimed it for his office wall though.

Each canvas also contains a hanging kit, so it’s quick and easy to put your new picture up on the wall.

Canvas design have also given me the  amazing opportunity to give one of you lovely people a canvas worth up to £59.99. They have a prize of any high quality picture of your choice to be put onto canvas, any size from 6×6 inches up to an impressive 40×40 inch canvas. Moments that mattered in 2013

I have just read a blog about telling people about a moment that mattered to you in 2013. It could be a big or tiny moment, life changing or every day occurrence that has just mattered to you.

My moment that mattered to me in 2013 is very obvious to everyone who knows me or to anyone who reads my blog. my moment was the moment I became a mum, The moment Baby C was born. The moment my truly amazing and beautiful baby girl came to change my life and touch the lives of all those around us.

This moment …

I’ve had a few other moments that meant something to me in 2013

  • Celebrating with one of my best friends at her wedding.
  • Being asked to bake a wedding cake, which I cannot wait to do this year.
  • Getting a new (to me) car.
  • Starting my Blog and learning a lot along the way
  • celebrating life everyday and spending time with family we didn’t think would make it to see 2014.

Here are some of my favourite pictures from 2013.

2013 was a year full of amazing and lovely moments,  I hope 2014 is filled with even more special moments.

*This blog post is being used as entry to competitions with the opportunity win with*

My rough plan for 2014

This is just a list of things that I would like to do this year,

  • Apply to University and hopefully get a place
  • Save as much money as possible
    • Budget, make a spreadsheet and keep track of spending
  • Enter and win some competitions – I’d love to get £2014 worth of prizes but I doubt it will happen.
  • Get organised for Christmas earlier- Try and get bargains
  • Celebrate Baby C’s 1st birthday with our family and friends – hoping to have a cake smash!
  • Bake more cake and work on other things like bread and pastry
  • Work on my cake decorating skills and make Sarah’s wedding cake look beautiful.
  • Sell more on eBay and declutter.
  • Try to set aside some time for me and Dan, as well as have some family time.
  • Make more of an effort to see friends and family.
  • Spend less time on facebook/ the internet.
  • Blog everyday (sort of goes against the previous one doesnt it lol)
  • Spend more time outside.

This isn’t a list of resolutions its just an aim, I probably won’t do all these things this year, I’ll probably change my mind and think of different things that I want to do as well or instead of them. I just want to try and if I don’t try I wont achieve anything.

My technology inspired christmas wishlist – competition enrty

Currys PC World have launched a blogger competition about writing your christmas gift guide using their website. The competition can be found here if you would like to enter.

So here is my christmas gift guide 2013.

These are my “If money was no object” kind of gifts, unfortunately I don’t have the funds to give them these presents, but one can only dream.

For my boyfriend

dan xmas cggdan xmas cgg 2

I would get  BEATS urBeats -ear headphones Black which are £79.95 in the gift guide. He has been a good boy this year and a very good Dad. He is a huge music fan and loves to listen to it through his phone, which saves me having to listen to it too.
I would also get him the HUSKY Coca Cola Mini Fridge which is £109.99, I would get him this for his computer room, He is a big gamer and also loves his cold cans of coke. would save us room in the main fridge and means he could have them on hand.
For my best friend
danii xmas cgg
I would buy a KITCHENAID Artisan Mixer Cream which is £429.00. She has ALWAYS wanted to steal my kitchenaid so I would get her one of her own.
For my dad

I would buy the APPLE 15” Macbook Pro (£1424.00) I know it is a very expensive computer but his is currently dying a very slow and painful death. He loves photography and when he retires I have a feeling he will do a lot more, plus he deserves a big expensive present for everything he does for us. I believe the Macbook pro is a very good computer for photography and editing.
These are the things I would love to get for the tech lovers in my life, What would you get for yours?

what I wish we could do to our garden.

I would love to make our garden family, baby and dog friendly.

It is currently all paved with grass and weeds coming up between the flags. I looks seriously uncared for and desperately needs the nettles and some plants moving, as well as the Large branch from a neighbour’s tree that came crashing down during a storm during summer.

My dream is to have a low maintenance space that we can use, that is safe for Baby C to play in when she is bigger and also have spaces dedicated for the dogs to run and play without stealing the babies toys or be at risk.

I would keep the patio area close to the house and have a nice table and chairs where we can open the conservatory up and use it during the nice weather, to have barbeques and friends around.

I would pull up the slabs that are covering the area that used to be grass, as they were not laid or sealed correctly and allow grass to grow between them and allow grass to grow again.

I dream of createing a play area, so it is a safe space for C to play as she gets bigger, I’d lay some of the rubber floor tiles (plum products protektamat) like those available here to protect her from injury and also to protect the grass and allow it to grow.

I would love to get a climbing frame like the amazing Castlewood tower one with a den area and swings for her and her friends to grow into and enjoy.

I would erect a fence with a gate to separate the side passage and a small section of the patio so the dogs could have outside space to go in unsupervised but not cause damage or be at risk.

I want our garden to be an extension of our home as we are a large family, 3 generations under one roof, any extra space is a bonus.

Competition to win a bathroom

Tots100 and Bathshop321 are running a competition at the moment to win a new bathroom and all I have to do is post about my dream bathroom.

I currently share a bathroom with two boys and the baby ( both our dogs also use it when they need bathing) so my dream bathroom would have a bath with a shower stand, a clean sink that wasn’t blocked up with shaving rubbish and smothered in toothpaste, and a toilet that had a nice comfy seat.

I’d love a shower above the bath so we don’t have to keep queing to use the shower in my parents on-suite, with 5 adults and one baby in the house its difficult to get time to shower and all get ready to go out on time.

I don’t really want anything overly complicated or intricately decorated, just something plain simple and easy to keep clean, with somewhere to store all the toiletries that we have and bath toys that will will soon be getting. I also wish we had a lock on the door so I can steal half an hour for a bath in peace.

We have been meaning to add a shower and shower screen and lock to the bathroom since I was 5 months pregnant and my boyfriend moved in, but something has always come up and its still not been done :(

I love the Galaxia Showerbath Suite its has a simple, clean, modern  looking design that will fit into the small bathroom space that we have.

I know my dream bathroom isn’t extravagant, its practical and as a new mum practical is just what i wish for.
