If you have read our blog before then you will know that I adore baking and C has seemed to pick up the bug too.
I usually bake at least 5 Christmas cakes for us, friends and family, but this year I just didn’t find the time to get into the kitchen and make them, what will everything that we have been through in the last 6 months.

So we are making Christmas cupcakes to give with people’s presents on christmas day.
C and I made a batch on Monday to take into nursery as a Merry christmas gift for all the staff.

She really enjoyed making and decorating them and the fact that Happy brought all the stuff for us to make them really helped me with the Elf on a shelf for this month as it’s our 1st year and I’m struggling to get some idea’s/ remember to set it up.

On the sixth day of parenting –  Top tips for Christmas day.
(still singing? :p )

Christmas with a child big or little will probably end in disaster if your not prepared for every eventuality.

So here are my top tops to surviving with your hair in tact and happy if tired children. :-

  • Buy extra batteries! – No matter how many you think you have make sure to get extra’s in a variety of shapes and sizes for all those lovely noisey toys that well meaning relatives have bought.
  • Lay out clothes for kids the day before – If your house is anything like mine, getting everyone up, presents open and ready to leave on time then you need all the help you can get. Laying out the kids clothes, including tights/socks and shoes means less things to be asked about while you are trying to do your make up. All you need is ” MUUUUUM, WHERE ARE MY ….” Shouted at full volume when your half asleep and trying to put on eye liner.
  • Eat out – Now I know some people love to cook Christmas dinner but seriously who wants to be up at 5am to cook a turkey and still be doing washing up at 11pm. Just eat out and leave the cooking and dishes to other people, its worth the cost!
  • Charge Electrical gifts – I’ve bought C a Vtech Innotab max for Christmas and I am going to unbox it, charge it and set it up. The last thing anyone especially an impatient toddler really want is to get a present that they can’t use right there and then.
  • Alcohol and sweets – During the day if your driving or have the kids to look after then Alcohol isn’t always an option, especially if like me 3 years ago and you are pregnant over Christmas.
If you aren’t once you are home and the kids are asleep why not enjoy a cheeky glass or two of your favourite tipple, or at least that box of chocolates of Auntie Maude without the kids help, well they do get enough.

What are your top tips for surviving Christmas day?

Our day at the Ultimate Christmas fair Liverpool

Liverpool is a great and vibrant city, the new exhibition centre near to the Albert dock is a great venue which hosts a variety of concerts and shows.
This weekend it is home to The Ultimate Christmas Fair  and mum and I were lucky enough to be invited along to see it for ourselves.

We arrived not long after it opened, It has lovely decorations and had a stroll around having a look at everything, while listening to live Christmas music.

There is a great selection of fashion, gifts, as well as food and drink. It took us a good couple of hours to look around properly, chat to the stall holders, try some of the products and see what there was on offer. Continue reading

Christmas is coming

Just in case you haven’t seen any advertising at all, its Christmas in only 5 weeks and 5 days!

I still have a lot to do, presents to buy, the house needs to be cleaned before we can decorate and I need to sort out the loft as well as we are getting a new loft ladder later this month or early next month.

My mum and dad were meant to be on a Mediterranean cruise at the moment but mum is ill again and dad caught a stomach bug just 12 hours before they were meant to leave so they were unable to go. I was going to use the 2 weeks that they were away to sort through things in my toddler free time as I feel that I can’t do it properly when other people are there.

I’m a little excited for Christmas, but know that I will be more excited once the Christmas fair in guides happens next weekend where we will be helping to run the grotto.  I’m also still waiting for my Christmas rota from work, so I don’t know what I’m working over the Christmas period and I hate not knowing. I feel as if I can’t plan properly yet, if my current shifts are the same I should be in work Christmas evening, the Sunday afternoon and new years day evening.

The basic Christmas day plans so far are:-

  1. Wake up and do presents at home.
  2. Go to Nanna G’s and do presents with Dan’s family
  3. Go out for lunch with My mum’s family at about 1.00pm.
  4. Go to work for 5.30pm ( assuming that I’m on shift )

As you can see they are very basic and I’m sure they will change a little more before then.

It only being just under 6 weeks till Christmas also means that our Florida holiday is getting ever closer and I think C is more excited for that than Christmas. She said that she is only asking for a Scooter from father Christmas this year so at least her Christmas list is easy enough to write for him.

We are planning on taking her to the grotto at some point but not 100% sure when, but I’ll write all about it when we do.

GoCustomized Phone case review*

Anyone who has a phone now-a-day’s knows that the case can also be an extension of your personality with the array of personalised items available on the market we are spoilt for choice.

I recently invested in a new phone cover and tablet slip from www.gocustomized.co.uk to protect the technology that gets thrown into my back, slipped into pockets, dropped and generally manhandled on a daily basis.

I ordered a HTC One M8 Personalised phone case ( The Hard case, Full wrap one) I decided to personalise it with a photo of C walking Freddie.
I liked the website set up, it is very user friendly as you are able to upload multiple photo’s and view them on the outline which makes it easy to see if it will work or not. I found that a lot of photographs don’t fit because of the whole in the case for the camera and flash.

12064291_10207722051317487_1653222160_n 12077376_10207722042637270_1930572145_n

My phone is also my main camera so I had to borrow dad’s phone to snap these photo’s of it. You can see that it is thin and protects around the edge of the phone as well as the whole of the back without being cumbersome. The finish is matt and smooth, its lovely to hold and doesn’t feel slippy.

It seems very tough and hard wearing with no marks or scratches appearing even after a week of use, including being dropped and throw into bags etc.

I also bought a Samsung galaxy tab 4 cover at the same time as my phone case, also personalised, this time I chose a photo from our Florida trip last year of my mum and me in front of the castle, this was a memory maker photo and we had added the Tinkerbell and words the photo before uploading to the site.

wpid-imag4973_1.jpgIf you would like to make your own phone case why not pop over and take a look, they have covers to fit most makes and models of phone as well as tablet cases.
